A Word Fitly Spoken
Proverbs 25:11
“A word fitly spoken [is like] apples of gold in pictures of silver. “ Proverbs 25:11
The baby is crying, the other children are screaming, and dad is reading his newspaper. Mom is trying to maintain order, but her attempts are feeble compared to the onslaught of challenge. The kids won't obey, her husband ignores it all, and the dog and cat are running around the room like they are in Olympic games. What is she to do? How is she to act? She's overwhelmed, and no one seems to care!
Suddenly, the phone rings and her Christian friend is on the other line. Desperately she tells her friend all about her chaotic circumstances, and her friend says quietly, “Let's take this to the Lord in prayer.” As the friend prays, the rattled mom begins to settle down. She places her problems at the master's feet. She has cast all her care upon Him now, and slowly her anxiety subsides, relief is felt, and her focus is back in place.
The Lord Jesus loves to use His people to help others in their crisis times. The body of Christ ministering to one another is how people keep on tract, in focus and directed toward the path the Lord has in front of them. Sometimes people believe that the message from the Lord should come from the pastor, but as often is the case, Jesus uses anyone who makes him or herself available to share a word fitly spoken. Imagine what the service times at church would be like if the jewelry of fitly spoken words were manifested every time people gathered together. As old treasure hunters might say, “Me thinks I've found the treasure chest for the gold and silver are everywhere.”
