Making disciples of Jesus Christ by His Word and by His Spirit.
Calvary Chapel Tallahassee is an affiliate church of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, pastored by Chuck Smith. Chuck Smith founded Calvary Chapel in the late 60's during a time when most traditional churches were turning away the next generation because of the length of their hair and the counter-culture lifestyle which they practiced. Driven by a burden for that generation, Chuck reached out to them with love and understanding and without compromise of Christian principles. A result of this outreach was the birth of the "Jesus Movement."
Today, with affiliate churches all over the country and the world, Calvary Chapels are still reaching out to the lost and attempting to love the unloved. They are best known for their strong emphasis on the teaching of God's Word and the application of that Word to everyday life. High importance is also placed upon worship through contemporary music, designed to draw the believers to a place of intimate communion with God and to ready their hearts for His Word.
Kent Nottingham is the Senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel Tallahassee.
Serving in full time ministry since 1983, the Lord placed on Kent’s heart the desire to move to a place he had never seen before and in 1986, Kent with his wife Debbie and two small sons left Las Vegas to come and pioneer a new church in Tallahassee, Florida; only the third Calvary Chapel in the state at that time.
Kent’s uncomplicated style of teaching relates Biblical truth and application in a relaxed but effective manner to his congregation. Under Kent’s leadership, the church has grown from a small storefront church to its new facility on 28 acres with a multitude of ministries and community outreaches that has birthed new fellowships in Michigan, Georgia and Haiti.
